Cold Storage screen
The Cold Storage screen is where you manage fridges, freezers, and cold-rooms. It lists all units and lets you add or remove them.
Opening the screen
From the dashboard, tap the Fridges card. The Cold Storage screen opens with a list of existing units. If no units exist, it shows a "No cold storage units configured." empty state.
Adding a unit
- Tap Add Unit at the bottom of the screen.
- Choose a type: FRIDGE, FREEZER, or COLD-ROOM.
- Enter a name (e.g. "Walk-in Fridge", "Ice Cream Freezer").
- Adjust min/max temperatures if needed (defaults: fridge 1–5°C, freezer -22 to -18°C, cold-room 0–8°C).
- Tap Save Unit. The new unit appears at the top of the list.

Selecting a type pre-fills the temperature fields. You can override them before saving. Set ranges that match your food safety plan.
Viewing units
Each unit is displayed as a card showing:
- Name — the label you assigned
- Type badge — FRIDGE, FREEZER, or COLD-ROOM
- Temperature range — e.g. "1°C to 5°C"
- Icon — color-coded (green for fridge/cold-room, blue for freezer)
Tap a unit card to open its temperature log. You can record a reading by hand with Log temperature — enter the temperature, time, and an optional note, then tap Save temperature.
If a sensor is paired to that unit, a temperature chart appears above the log table and new sensor readings are added automatically. Without a sensor, the page shows the log table only.
Deleting a unit
Tap the trash icon on a unit card to delete it. The unit is removed from the list immediately. Deletion is a soft delete — the record is preserved in the database for audit history.
Hardware & Automation
The screen includes cards for hardware features:
- Buy Sensors — purchase temperature sensors (coming soon)
- Add Bridge — connect your ThinkNode bridge to WiFi (see below)
- Link Sensors — pair a sensor to a specific fridge (coming soon)
Setting up a bridge
The ThinkNode bridge relays sensor readings to Spotless over your venue's WiFi. Bridge setup is part of the automated-sensor surface, so it requires the Professional plan, and it runs in theSpotless mobile app — a browser can't join the bridge's WiFi, so the web app shows a pointer to the mobile app instead.
- Plug into power socket and the USB-C on the device.
- Wait for the green light to flash. If it doesn't flash, hold the Reload button for 20 seconds and let go.
Next we'll need to get your WiFi details to connect the device and then the device will connect to it. On the Cold Storage screen, tapAdd Bridge, pick your venue's WiFi (or enter a hidden network's name), and type its password. The password is sent straight to the bridge — Spotless never stores it. Checking that the bridge is online can take up to 3 minutes.
Troubleshooting — if the bridge's network can't be found, check the bridge is powered and move your phone closer. If the bridge never comes online after setup, the WiFi password was probably wrong: hold the bridge's reset button for 20 seconds until its light changes, wait for the ThinkNode-M7_ network to reappear, and run setup again with the correct password. If this box was previously on another Spotless account, completing setup moves it to yours and the previous site loses it. On iPhone, WiFi setup also needs Local Network access (Settings → Privacy → Local Network → Spotless) and Android asks for location permission, which the system requires for WiFi scanning.
Temperature targets
Each cold store keeps target_temp_min andtarget_temp_max — the acceptable operating range. These serve two purposes:
- Monitoring — planned: once sensors are paired, live readings will be compared against these bounds and out-of-range values will trigger alerts. Until then, readings are entered during checks, and entering a value outside the range shows an in-app warning.
- Compliance — historical temperature logs are checked against targets during audits.
Onboarding flow
When creating a new business, the app prompts you to add cold storage units as the final step before completing setup. You can add one or more units during onboarding, or skip and add them later from the dashboard.
