Food Items screen
The Food Items screen is where you manage food items that require temperature monitoring — such as hot-holding rice, chilled soups, or cooked meats. It lists all configured items and lets you add or remove them.
Opening the screen
From the dashboard, tap the Food Items card. The Food Safety Checks screen opens with a list of existing items. If no items exist, it shows a "No food items configured for temperature checks." empty state.
Adding an item
- Tap Add Food Item at the bottom of the screen.
- Enter a name (e.g. "Hot Holding - Rice", "Cooked Chicken", "Soup Well").
- Adjust min/max temperatures if needed (defaults: 63–90°C for hot holding).
- Tap Save Food Item. The new item appears at the top of the list.
Temperature defaults
| Use case | Default min | Default max | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hot holding | 63°C | 90°C | Rice, soups, sauces, buffet items |
Override the defaults before saving to match your food safety plan. The ranges you set become the acceptable band for temperature checks.
Viewing items
Each item is displayed as a card showing:
- Name — the label you assigned
- Temperature range — e.g. "63°C to 90°C"
- Icon — orange utensils icon for food items
Deleting an item
Tap the trash icon on an item card to delete it. The item is removed from the list immediately. Deletion is a soft delete — the record is preserved in the database for audit history.
Temperature targets
Each food item keeps target_temp_min and
target_temp_max — the acceptable operating range. These serve
two purposes:
- Monitoring — during hygiene checks, recorded temperatures are compared against these bounds. Readings outside the range trigger corrective action prompts.
- Compliance — historical temperature logs are checked against targets during EHO inspections.
Onboarding
Food items are not part of the initial onboarding flow. Add them from the dashboard after setting up your business and cold storage units.
