What sensors do
Wireless temperature sensors sit inside your fridges and freezers and send readings automatically through your ThinkNode bridge — no manual probing. Sensors are part of the Professional plan, and you need abridge set up first so the readings have a way home.
Linking a sensor
- On the Cold Storage screen, tap Link Sensors.
- On your phone, scan the barcode on the inside of the box — not the QR code on the device itself. The app reads the name (the serial on the box), device EUI, App EUI, and app key, and shows them for you to check. No barcode, or using the web app? TapEnter details manually and type the details from inside the box instead.
- Check the name, device EUI, App EUI, and app key (the app key is sent straight to the network server and never stored by Spotless), then pair the sensor to one of your fridges. Need a new fridge? TapCreate new to add one on the Cold Storage screen, then come back and pick it.
- Tap Link sensor. Push the button on the sensor for five seconds until you see it flash. The app waits for the sensor to join the network — that can take a few minutes; you can finish and check back later.
When is a sensor "online"?
A sensor shows as online after it joins the network. A newly linked sensor shows as "waiting for it to join" until that join arrives. A bridge still shows as online when the network has heard from it in the last 5 minutes.
Troubleshooting
- QR code won't scan — you're probably scanning the code on the device. Open the cardboard box and scan the barcode printed on the inside. If that still fails, enter the details from the box manually: name (serial), device EUI, App EUI, and app key.
- "Already registered" — each physical sensor belongs to one fridge at a time. If it's already linked (to this account or another), the app asks whether to move it. Confirming pairs it with the fridge you picked, and moves it to this business if it was linked elsewhere.
- No join — check the bridge is powered and online, move the sensor closer to the bridge, and hold the button on the sensor for five seconds until it flashes.
